Empowering the Frontline Award

About the Award

The Empowering the Frontline Award celebrates new and rising frontline violence intervention workers that have demonstrated outstanding commitment and promise to the field of violence prevention and intervention work. This intergenerational award is named after past frontline violence intervention award winners – all who have committed their life’s work to serving their communities and who will have an opportunity to honor those that represent the future of this work. This year’s awards include:   

  • The Rodney Babb Empowering the Frontline Award

  • The Isaiah Elam Empowering the Frontline Award

  • The Quentin Joseph Empowering the Frontline Award 

The HAVI will name three new honorees with these awards at the 2023 HAVI Conference on September 26-28, 2023. Winners will receive and award and $1,000 check. In addition, award recipients will receive professional development and mentorship from the previous frontline worker award winners.  

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Nominees who are frontline violence intervention workers with five years or less in the violence prevention and intervention field providing services to individuals and families that have been impacted by violence.

NOMINATIONS

To be considered, please submit a nomination for the person being recommended by completing the application form and include the following:    

  • Please describe why your nominee should be considered for this award.

  • What type(s) of professional development or mentorship would benefit this nominee?

Applications will be evaluated, and the award recipient will be determined by a selection committee.

The HAVI will announce the winners at the 2023 HAVI Conference on September 26-28, 2023 in Chicago, IL.
